Desire as a Form of Energy This sculptural work addresses impermanence, the shifting value, use & circulation of material over time. An image of a painting that I no longer own, which has been photographed from its digital documentation directly from a computer screen, sits alongside prints onto glass & photographs of water in protean states (melting ice, dripping condensation, body sweat). Also included is a magnet made from out-of-circulation shredded banknotes and a block of reconfigured rejected works on paper. A quartz crystal, quartz oscillators, an image of a geological landscape and crystal oscillators used as the frequency standard for the USA in 1920's, variously reference the changing standards & materials used for measuring time Desire as a Form of Energy (Grey Text Painting 56, framed by text version 41 (2012), 2015) Oscillation, Circulation detail: Desire as a Form of Energy (Grey Text Painting 56, framed by text version 41 (2012), 2015) Oscillation, Circulation - 2016 detail: Desire as a Form of Energy (Grey Text Painting 56, framed by text version 41 (2012), 2015) Oscillation, Circulation - 2016 detail: Desire as a Form of Energy (Grey Text Painting 56, framed by text version 41 (2012), 2015) Oscillation, Circulation - 2016
